ANOTHER STEP IN THE APPROVAL PROCESS OF THE SPORTS ACT

After the approval of the Sports Act at the August meeting of the Government of the Slovak Republic, the new Sports Act will be on the agenda of the 54th session of the National Council of the Slovak Republic.

GOVERNMENT OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC APPROVED THE “NEW SPORTS ACT”

More transparent funding of sport, inflow of funds from the private sector, registration, transparency and control of funds via an information system, changes in the management of sports are the priorities addressed by the draft Sports Act in the context of new rules and obligations. The Government of the Slovak Republic approved the draft Sports Act at its meeting on 26 August 2015 and further discussions will take place in the Parliament.

The Executive Committee of the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation (hereinafter the “EC SIHF”) approved expert committees at its second meeting, held on 18 August 2015 in Stará Lesná. JUDr. Oliver Pravda, LL.M. became a member of the SIHF’s Legislative Committee; he works at our law firm SOUKENÍK - ŠTRPKA, s. r. o. as a junior associate.

DRAFT OF THE NEW “SPORTS ACT” IN THE INTERDEPARTMENTAL CONSULTATION PROCEDURE

After public discussions, the draft of the new Sports Act enters the formal interdepartmental consultation procedure for comments of ministries, local governments, sports federations, sports clubs and the public.

DRAFT OF THE NEW “SPORTS ACT” PRESENTED BY A WORKING GROUP TO THE MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL COUNCIL OF THE SLOVAK REPUBLIC

Members of the working group, including JUDr. Miroslav Hlivák, PhD., LLM., the firm's partner, presented to the Members of the National Council of the Slovak Republic a draft of the new “Sports Act” (hereinafter the “Act”), which will significantly affect sports legislation.
