We often hear this from the general public, politicians and the media in reaction to almost all legal professions. Sometimes rightly so, and sometimes simply because it is usually the case that just one of the parties triumphs in a dispute, while the other party internalizes the image of opposing legal counsel - a lawyer - as the image of an adversary and concludes that he or she must have acted dishonestly, which is why they prevailed.

However, we believe that in the provision of legal counsel, quantity and quality not only need not be, but must not be mutually exclusive. This is evident not just from the reaping of awards in the law firm rankings, but, more importantly, from the successful representation and satisfaction of our clients regarding the cases we have closed.

In 2020, we achieved success on several fronts. In the Law Firm of the Year 2020 competition, our law firm received the ‘Highly Recommended Law Firm Award’ in as many as six professional categories. According to the Slovak Spectator, we again finished first in the TOP 10 rankings of the largest law firms in Slovakia. We have thus become the largest law firm in Slovakia for the fourth year in a row.

Throughout 2020 we continued to provide comprehensive legal advice to the National Highway Company, Inc., related to the implementation of a major D4R7 project (the D4 highway project and the R7 expressway). In connection with this project, we have been part of an expert team representing the Slovak Republic in international arbitration since 2019. In the area of litigation (dispute agenda), we represented the interests of clients in cases worth over 2.8 billion euros. In the field of banking and finance, we represented the interests of clients worth in excess of 1.2 billion euros. Several partners in the firm also published professional articles and spoke at various professional events.

Like many others, we felt our moral obligation to contribute towards a mitigation of the effects of the coronavirus pandemic on the economic and social wellbeing of our country. The result of our efforts last year was the creation of a project advokatipomahaju.sk, through which material assistance worth 244,000 euros was dispensed. We have set up a special "Covid-19 team" composed of lawyers, legal experts, tax advisors and IT specialists, who have given the necessary helping hand to all citizens, business partners and clients in this emergency (specifically through our special www.covid-19.akss.sk website). In addition to helping to alleviate the effects of the pandemic we provided free - pro bono legal aid amounting to more than 1000 manhours in 2020.

Since we have been contributed to the formation of the legal environment in Slovakia since 2003, we can now claim to be one of the leaders in the Slovak legal services market.

We are a law firm with a nationwide operation. Through our partner, we also operate in the Czech Republic. At present, a team of 90+ members is available to our clients, of which 63 are lawyers. When providing legal services, we cooperate with experts and consultants in the relevant areas of professional advice (with tax and accounting advisors, auditors, organizational and personnel consultants and many others).
